This national park is located 50 kilometers from Palu the capital province of Central Sulawesi in 2.5 hours drive to Kamarora village. There are several entry points like from Besoa Valley where there are ancient megaliths sites dating back 1300 AD
Lore Lindu National Park is a forested protected area on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, in the province of Central Sulawesi. The area of the national park covers 2,180 km² both low-land and mountain forests from 200 to 2,610 meters above the sea level. It provides habitat to numerous rare species, include 77 bird species endemic to Sulawesi Island. The national park is designated as part of the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves.
There are over 400 granite megaliths in the area, of which about 30 represent human forms. They vary in size from a few centimeters to 4.5 meters. The purpose of use from those megaliths is still remain unknown as there are no description. Other megaliths are in form of large vast named Kalamba. Those megaliths spread in Napu Valley, Besoa, Bada and Rampi. There were various archaeological studies have dated those carvings are from between 3000 BC to 1300 AD.
This is tour is for the one who like to be in the nature, trekking in the jungle, birding, learning about ancient stuff ( megaliths), away from the crowd, meet the locals in the village, stay at basic accommodation, and also have a taste of adventure. We offer you now a short trip of 3 Days / 2 Nights. But if would like to do longer than that, we can also organize with other optinal routes.
Your Itinerary - 03 Days / 02 Nights
Day 01: Palu - Tambing lake – Wuasa - Doda (165 km)
After breakfast at your hotel drive to Tambing lake first through winding road. Here you can do short trekking, enjoy unpolluted air and birding around the lake. Continue to Besoa valley and have lunch at basic Restaurant. Continue drive to Besoa valley. Overnight at guest house in Doda village.
Day 02: Doda – Trek to Megaliths - Wuasa (6km Trek + 60 km Drive)
After breakfast start your day by exploring the Megalith ancient statues in this valley. Drive km to Lempe village, continue short trek 6 km towards the ancient sites named “Pokekea” passing farmland and field of savannah. There you’ll see numbers of ancient megaliths statues in several forms of human, animals and also a giant stone vats ( Kalamba). Continue your trip to other site where you’ll find Kalambas and a human form statue named “Tadulako” which is means “the leader”. Proceed your trip to Wuasa by car and there you’ll stay overnight at guest house.
Day 03: Wuasa (Napu Valley) – Anaso - Palu
Early morning at 04.00 am drive to Anaso and start hiking up and down in 14 km, until you reach the altitude from 1,700 to 2,350 meters above sea level. There you’ll enjoy the beautiful landscape, fresh air, birding and also the Sunrise can be seen from the summit 2,610 meters above sea level. Lunch en-route. Proceed your trip to Palu.
